Putting Me First: Part Seven.

I want to take you back to March this year - when the weather was warm (not hot) and my life was mega busy.

My husband worked a way a lot of March training for his job, and I had taken on the Cold Water Challenge to dip in cold water every day. My business was busy.

I didn’t have time to spend on myself much - but in the spirit of putting myself first more I took the day off and went to the beach.

Not having the time is something I would always say to myself, it was a narrative I lived by thanks to over productivity and capitalism. And it was something that I was determined to be okay with.

Okay, I don’t have much time, but I always have time for myself. Because time for me has to be non-negotiable. When I am with myself more, doing things that give me joy more, making sure I am okay - I am content.

So, one Friday I backed a bag and headed off to the beach with the dog. It was warm (although it’s hard to think about anything other than being too hot in this heatwave) enough to not wear a jacket and the dog and I walked for a bit, sat on the sand for a bit, and paddled!

A simple small day simply being is something that we often tell ourselves “I can’t do that!” But I want to invite you to notice when you’re thinking that - who taught you that? Why can’t you? Why CAN you?

Have a great week - stay cool!
